Most people's pension isn't one thing, it's several: a couple of old workplace pensions from previous jobs, maybe a SIPP, maybe something your current employer set up automatically. Each provider shows you your own balance, but nowhere shows you the total, or what it's actually on track to become.
The Retirement Tracker pulls every pot into one sheet, so you can see the whole picture and a real projection, not just isolated numbers on separate logins.
What it tracks
- Every pension pot you have. Provider, pot type (workplace, SIPP, personal, or other), and current value, each entered once.
- Contributions. Yours and your employer's, tracked monthly per pot.
- An assumed growth rate. Set per pot, so you can see how sensitive the projection is to the assumption you're making.
- Projected value at retirement. Based on your current age, target retirement age, contributions and growth rate, calculated automatically for each pot and combined into one total.
Why this matters
Pension statements arrive once a year, from however many providers you've accumulated, each showing a number with no easy way to add them up or see where they're heading. It's easy to end up with a vague sense that you're "probably fine" without anything to actually back that up.
Putting every pot in one sheet turns that vague sense into an actual number, and makes it obvious, quickly, whether a change (a new job's pension, a bump in contributions, an old pot you'd forgotten about) is moving your total in the right direction.
How it works
Set your current age and target retirement age once on the Dashboard tab. Add each pension pot on the Pension Pots tab, its provider, type, and current value, then enter your monthly contribution and your employer's, plus an assumed growth rate. The sheet projects what each pot (and your total) will be worth at your target retirement age, and updates automatically whenever you revise a pot's numbers.
Your State Pension estimate has its own field on the Dashboard for reference, but isn't folded into the projection, since it isn't an investable pot in the same way. You can check your real forecast at gov.uk/check-state-pension and enter it there for context alongside your workplace and personal pensions.
Working out a single pot? Our Pension Calculator gives you a standalone projection; this tracker is for when you want everything added together.
This tracker is a template to help you record your own pension pots and see a projection based on them: it isn't personalised financial advice, and any projected value is illustrative, not a guarantee of what you'll actually have.
